This is the wonder of free one team is preparing to steal another team’s free agent, someone blindsides them to take their own free agents. The new Sacramento Kings ownership want to make a statement, and changing coaches won’t be enough. They need stars. Andre Iguodala is a good target, but the sudden offer to Tyreke Evans makes them re-think their priorities. The Pelicans made the offer steep, and the Kings may have to choose between pursuing Iggy or keeping ‘Reke. Remember that they also drafted Ben McLemore.

Breaking: The Kings have offered a 4 year contract at 55 million to Andre Iguodala. How this will affect their intention to match the Pelicans’ offer to Tyreke is still undetermined.

What would you do?

per ESPN:

The Sacramento Kings have made Denver Nuggets swingman Andre Iguodala their free-agent priority, according to sources familiar with Sacramento’s thinking.

Sources told the Kings, meanwhile, are leaning strongly against matching the offer sheet restricted free agent Tyreke Evans is planning to sign with the New Orleans Pelicans on July 10.

Sources said Tuesday that Evans is prepared to sign a four-year deal worth at least $44 million when the league’s annual moratorium on signings and trades is lifted.

It remains to be seen whether the Kings and their new ownership group can assemble an offer big enough to steal Iguodala away from the Nuggets, who are determined to hang onto him. Iguodala is also drawing interest from other suitors such as Detroit and Golden State.

But the Kings’ current stance, sources said, is that matching the Pelicans’ forthcoming deal with Evans has been deemed too pricey, especially after Sacramento drafted Ben McLemorewith the seventh overall pick in last Thursday’s draft.
