When Knicks head coach Mike Woodson appeared on ESPN radio’s “The Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Ruocco Show” he stated that Carmelo Anthony asked to be taken out of the game versus Cleveland before tripping over himself and injuring his right knee during the first half of play. Woodson admits that he may have done more harm than good in his decision to keep Anthony in the game.
Per ESPN Radio:
“Melo was hurt, and for him to ask me to come out of the game before he actually took that spill, made me realize that something wasn’t right. He’s never, ever, ever, even hinted about coming out of the game…I should have [taken him out], but stubborn coach, I just didn’t…I’m thinking the game, I’m thinking, hey, he’ll play through it, he’ll figure it out, but he was hurt.”
